You're The Inspiration on 8/31

The subject matter of the 243rd day of the year (non-leap) has never changed in my daily posts. And here, on 8/31/18, the 243rd day of 2018 we are celebrating Sarah's birthday.  You know our love was meant to be when, on her first day at Penn, we found ourselves in the same place, at the same time.  Forget now that I was on the other side of a large cubicle wall and we did not actually meet that day, but the Penn Band brought us together and the rest, as they say, is history.  Great day today filled with family and ending with a walk-off extra inning HR for the Phillies.  For our number of the day, we will go with 831 (which is an anagram for MY date of birth 318 - FATE!) and since she inspires me every day, and our love WAS meant to be, we will rock out to a Chicago classic! (btw the Phillies beat CHICAGO tonight as well - FATE!) <3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idCil0mNhoo

Hey Jude (on Day 242)

We have reached Day #242.  A pretty good day at work and in the evening, even though this heat and humidity is really starting to get to me!  On the radio (hello Beatles Channel on XM) this morning, they were celebrating the 50th anniversary of the release of Hey Jude!  So, I picked it as the song of the day and, since today's day is a nice palindrome (and I have already used 50 for two days), let's go with 242 as the number of the day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQER0A0ej0M

All Right! (Now, 47 New Members)

The 241st Day of 2018 was a busy day.  Work, Anna's HS Orientation, and then drove BACK to Penn for the Penn Band Intro Rehearsal.  So 8/29/18 was busy, but quite satisfying.  The number of the day is 47, for the number of new members we got today (we intend to get more the next two Mondays (9/3 and 9/10)!  And, for the Band, let's rock out to Free.  All Right!  Now! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngrIHvfl-XY

Welcome Back (to 1,300 Sophs and Juniors)

It was another hot and muggy evening on College Green on the evening of the 240th day of 2018.  After the workday on 8/28/18 had ended, I helped the President's Office by scanning PennCards at the Welcome Back Picnic for Sophomores and Juniors.  Was good to see smiling faces of students and working with my campus colleagues.  For this evening's number, we hold up 1,300, a record attendance for the Picnic this evening!  And, as our song, my favorite song with the words "Welcome Back!" - Ayyyyyyyy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZzEzDkeHzI

Let's Get It Started (2,659 New Quakers!)

Here we are, at Day 239 of 2018.  And 8/27/18 was Opening Convocation Ceremonies at Penn.  I have been marshaling and attending this ceremony for as long as I can remember.  Tonight was hot, yes, but it was an awesome start as usual to the new semester and, for 2,659 new undergraduates, their time at Penn.  So, I say WELCOME to the Class of 2022 (and Transfer Students) and hold up 2,659 as the number of the day and rock out to this song from the Black Eyed Peas!  Let's get it started! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKqV7DB8Iwg

Hawaii LLWS Champs (+23 run differential!)

On Day 238 of 2018, the girls went to the beach and I stayed behind to do church work and work work.  But, on 8/26/18, I also got to lie on the couch and watch the LLWS Championship Game.  And I was cheering for the eventual winners, HAWAII!  I love the LLWS, the kids, the quality of play (remember, they're 12!), the sportsmanship, the joy, it's great!  Hawaii only gave up 3 runs in the entire tournament (in 5 games - and the runs were all in ONE game).  So, the number of the day is 23 for their run differential (26 scored, 3 allowed) and, for our song, a remake of the classic TV Show theme! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwhvByj8YG8

94,188 Miles (not in a Fast Car)

I spent the evening of the 237th day of 2018 driving to and fro in the area.  My daughter and her friends, on 8/25/18, are getting the most out of the last days of Summer.  I am often the parent who drives all the kids hither and yon and I love it, honestly.  I call myself the SherrUber.  So, for the number of the day, let's go with 94,188 which is the odometer reading on my car (NOT all miles taking kids) and even though the van is not all that fast, I want to listen to this Tracy Chapman classic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwrHwZyFN7M
